Your host Warren Read has worked in the entertainment industry for 23 years, as a radio announcer, party and wedding DJ, festival and events MC, theatre games facilitator and short-film maker. He has been a regular MC at the Woodford Folk Music Festival and Gympie Music Muster for over 10 years as well as many public events such as the Caloundra Music Festival, Peregian Originals, Heart of Gold Film Festival and Gympie Goldrush.

All Stars DJ provides an experienced DJ and MC, a quality sound system, dance-floor lighting, (with smoke machine where practical), and wireless microphone for speeches and ‘karaoke’ singalongs.

When you need music entertainment for your celebration, there are some good reasons to choose a quality DJ over a jukebox or live band.

★ All Stars DJ carries more songs than you find on a jukebox, with the latest hits constantly updated.

★ All Stars DJ can play a variety of styles or genres but keep the mood in a flow, and All Stars DJ can play suitable requests at the most opportune time. (Songs selected on a jukebox are often disjointed, in that they are played with little relation in style or genre to the songs selected before and after.)

★ All Stars DJ supplies dance-floor lighting.

★ All Stars DJ can play a much wider variety of songs, with a much more extensive playlist, than a live band.

★ All Stars DJ is generally cheaper than a live band.

★ All Stars DJ plays suitable music continuously – live bands have breaks.

As a lover of live music myself, I understand the pleasure of having a live band play at a celebration. However, a band’s lighting is usually minimal, and the recorded music played in their breaks doesn’t have the same variety or thought given to it as All Stars DJ can provide. If you desire live music at your party or function, you may wish to consider combining All Stars DJ with your live act, so that the evening’s celebration is continual.

As befitting the occasion, the music played at a Wedding Reception would normally be varied to accommodate the range in ages and tastes of the guests. Typically, the music would be of a background nature initially before kicking into dance mode after dinner. Music played on the night will be a combination of your choices, requests taken at the time, and the DJ’s experienced selections.

Key moments in the evening occur when specific songs of your choice may be important. These include the Entrance of the Bridal Party, the Cutting of the Cake and especially the first dance or ’Bridal Waltz’, if these are part of your plan. You may also wish to choose songs for the tossing of the bouquet and garter, and for the farewell.

If required, All Stars DJ can also play music at your Wedding Ceremony. Usually, the DJ service is only at the Reception.

Check the song lists page for a sample of the music that All Stars DJ will supply. A more extensive song list can be sent to you if you wish. If you have some preferred songs that aren’t on the list, All Stars DJ will supply them if told of them in advance.

All Stars DJ can also play any of your favourite songs from your own CD or iPod.

Warren is happy to accommodate your particular ideas for any part of the occasion, but a typical wedding scenario is as follows:

All Stars DJ will set-up in advance, and have background music playing, with a soft lighting effect, when the first guests arrive and as they mingle, eat and drink. Typically this is while the Bride, Groom and wedding party are at a photo session.
MC invites guests to find their places at the tables. MC announces the entrance of the Groomsmen & Bridesmaids, then the Bride & Groom. DJ plays chosen or suitable ‘entrance song’.
MC welcomes everyone to the reception. Dinners served to bridal party, then other tables. DJ: background dinner music.
MC starts speeches:

Toast to Bride & Groom.
Groom responds; toast to Bridesmaids.
Best Man responds on Bridesmaid’s behalf; speaks of Bride & Groom.
Someone speaks of Bride’s parents; toast to Bride’s parents.
Bride’s father responds.
Someone speaks of Groom’s parents; toast to Groom’s parents.
Groom’s father responds.
Toast to grandparents.
Groomsmen read any ‘telegrams’, emails, apologies etc.
MC provides an opportunity for other guests to say something.

Dessert served. DJ plays background music.
Cutting of the Cake. DJ plays chosen or suitable song.
‘Bridal Waltz”. DJ plays chosen or suitable song.
Dance time. DJ plays suitable music, with dance-floor lighting.
Tossing the Bouquet: MC gathers all single women on to the dance floor. Bride tosses bouquet, to be caught by one of the women. DJ plays chosen or suitable song.
Tossing the Garter: Bride sits on chair on dance floor. Groom removes Bride’s garter (with his teeth?). MC gathers all single men – Groom tosses garter, to be caught by one of the men. DJ plays chosen or suitable song.
Farewell Circle: MC gathers guests into a circle, as Bride & Groom say personal ‘thankyous’ and ‘goodbyes’ to each guest. Guests form an arch through which the Bride and groom make their exit. DJ plays chosen or suitable music.

These song lists contain the most requested songs of their styles and eras. A more extensive song list, for of any of the styles, is available on request.

Remember that All Stars DJ will play any song not on a list, if you advise in advance and will play any songs from your own CDs or iPod.
